Kimberly Cargile is the Executive Director at A Therapeutic Alternative, a holistic environment for cannabis consumers to obtain products from a compassionate and knowledgeable staff. Located at 3015 H Street in Sacramento, California, the business prides itself on having a friendly, educated and knowledgeable staff that attends continuing education classes to stay up-to-date on emerging scientific information.
Founded in 2009 by medical cannabis patients’ rights advocates, A Therapeutic Alternative provides high quality products and service to its members – the motive and driving passion behind the company for almost a decade.
Kimberly Cargile started out at A Therapeutic Alternative as a volunteer yoga instructor and cultivator. She was appointed as the Executive Director in 2012 and re-opened the dispensary in 2013. She has been dedicated to advocating for the medical cannabis industry in California for over a decade.
“I’ve been a grower since I went to College at Humboldt State in 2003,” says Kimberly. “I was 22 years old at that time, studying Cellular and Molecular Biology and working my way through college as a personal fitness trainer and yoga instructor. I started studying cannabis as a medicine and became very intrigued.”
Helping members find relief for their pain or other symptoms is the most rewarding part of Kimberly’s job. Women and seniors represent A Therapeutic Alternative’s largest demographic, and the dispensary is known as “the place where you send your mom.”
“I love the 1:3 Releaf Balm and the 30:1 Releaf Oil [from Papa & Barkley],” she says. “The Capsules by Papa & Barkley are a great way for a new consumer or patient to transition from pharmaceuticals to cannabinoid medicine. This is the common way that most people take medicine and it is easy for them to dose,” she explains.
Kimberly expects the federal government to legalize cannabis within the next three-to-five years and foresees large corporations merging and acquiring many of California’s retailers. Her advice to new consumers who are at the beginning stages of trying out cannabis: “Stick to products that provide a variety of administration techniques and cannabinoid profiles, as Papa & Barkley is doing.”
